The Sidekick uses ion exchange technology: thousands of tiny resin beads inside the tank swap hard minerals (calcium and magnesium) for sodium ions. Water flows through the resin bed, comes out soft, and the system automatically regenerates itself based on your water usage to flush the captured minerals away. Fully automatic: just add salt to the brine tank every few weeks.
